PAUSAL
This series of work ‘Pausal’ relates to of the process of entering menopause. The work reveals both emotional and physical changes that reflects the withdrawal symptoms of estrogen from a woman’s body commonly known as the Menopause. Contained within the artworks are visual representations of transitions of the body, as well as documenting pain, tension and beauty.
The works are intended to create dialogue with both men and women about the effects that menopause can have on a woman’s life.
Robb artwork the Silent Pain of Oppression sculpture installation was selected to take part of the Passion For Freedom Festival in London 2014. The sculpture focuses on the voice of women that are dominated by dictatorship of power who overshadow their, grief, pain and prevent the growing process to be equals in society.
This billboard ‘Green Red Blue’ creation was located at 165 Newtownards Road, East Belfast. The billboard was part of Creative Exchange Art in the Eastside project that took part in the Ulster Bank Festival At Queen’s 20th october – 4th November 2014. This work examined perceptions of cultural identity and is connected to conflict and femininity.
Text based artworks by Deirdre Robb. One of the Pause thematic works based on female menopause. Robb has captured the inner thoughts of various experiences when going through the menopause. the works are semi-sculptural and biographical.
SUPERHEROES identifies female roles in society and highlights the female behaviours in the context of the 21st Century. The work is intended to encourage the viewer to create their own narratives and by drawing their personal conclusions, ultimately will lead the observer to a place of awareness and social responsibility. Robb has created a number of collages, sculptures and drawings.
